This card is for three challenges: F4A163 - Glittery Happy Birthday, MIX10 - Circle Flowers, and IC383 - inspiration from Patina.
I started with mixed-media paper (thought I would give it a try). I adhered a page torn from a newsprint-style magazine (Ellery Queen) and applied a light coat of gesso, sanding slightly after it dried. I sponged it with Antique Linen, Wild Honey, Victorian Velvet and Peeled Paint Distress inks. I used several background stamps and a piece of rubber mesh to apply various colors of ink. I added a couple of butterflies in a very pale mauve ink and overstamped with white craft ink and a metallic plum from Colorbox. I added stems and leaves with a chalk ink.
The flowers were already made because this is the second card I created - I de-constructed the first because it just was NOT working! They are made of a fabric-like patterned paper and the edge of each circle is glittered in some fashion. I scrunched them like crazy for dimension and then opened them back up. I was playing aound with the layout when I took a break and checked out the inspiration challenge. When I saw this journal:(http://www.patinastores.com/catalog/...r-journal.html) it brought to mind a postmark stamp with the Eiffel Tower and I thought it would work well. I stamped it and the sentiment in VersaMark and embossed with gold ep. I gave the brads in the center of the flowers a coat of VersaMark using the pen and embossed them, too.
As always, thanks for looking!
