This week our cards are headed off to Donnie in Arkansas. Donnie has MDD for which there is nothing that can be done, except to be made comfortable. Donnie loves to garden, he'd garden during the night if he could (actually he does sometimes with the aid of a light). Whether it be flowers, veggies, or mowing the lawn, Donnie loves to do it. So this week we are bringing the garden to Donnie. This one is for looking, there's be no weeding or pruning.
I don't really own appropriate vegetable stamps, so I went the way of flowers. My choice before this was to bring the pollinators, but they were fussing about being attached to a card. I had a plethora of butterflies, dragonflies, bees and ladybugs all stamped and fussy cut. The bee was going around buzzing everyone, scaring them. All the butterflies wanted to do was suck the nectar from the flowers, not get in a fight with the bee. So I sent the bee packing and he ended up here.
I used the Delightful Daisies 3D Embossibilities for the base of this card. The daisies and butterfly went through quite a transformation to get to this point. They are whitewashed, then colored with Tombow markers and blender pen. Then I have used my Pebbles cream chalks on them, then Pebbles frosted chalks . The leaves just have the frosted chalk. Mr. Bee is cut from acetate and has double sided adhesive on one side. I cut the backing off his wings first and dipped them into the warm micro glitter. Then peeled the backing off his body and spooned the black micro glitter over this. This was all burnished for extra sparkle. The sentiment is stamped with black Versa Fine ink.
I hope that Donnie is at least able to get out and enjoy the spring weather, even if he cannot participate in the gardening he loves, he can hopefully sit and watch the flowers grow.

Great story AND explanation - it can be a bit frustrating when those critters refuse to cooperate - but you sure got them back in line for this great card! It does sound like it took a great bit of doing but the result is worth it!

Beautifully done card for Donnie, Jennifer. The Kraft bg lends a masculine feeling, but will remind him of soil...which any gardener loves to feel in their hands. The daisies are beautifully shaded and oh so pretty. Cute, cute bee which help those flowers and veggies.

What a beautiful card. I love the bg embossing and the flowers, butterfly and bee. I think I may end up sending a flower garden instead of veggies as I don't think I have any veggie stamps.
