Whew! What a mess! Not the card - it's my craft areas that are a mess. I've been trying to keep up with the mixed media challenges - not because I like doing them, but because I want to learn how to do them with some degree of ease and success. So far they have been fun. But I am definitely rating this a 5 on the difficulty scale.
I needed a set of masculine birthday cards for the Card Ministry, so I made 8 of these. Making one was a challenge, but making 8 took between 3 and 4 hours.
I used re-inkers and water in a spray bottle (not as good as a mister.)
I made two versions, 7 of this one and 1 of the other. I stamped the ship on white cs. Masked it and stamped the ocean water. Masked the ship again and misted the bottom of the card with the blue ink solution - did that for all 8, then switched to the purple ink solution. Masked the ship again and misted the top with the purple on all 8. Masked again and stamped the ship's log. Used black ep on silver cs and cut out the compass with a Spellbinders die. Stamped the sentiment and cut it twice with a Spellbinders die to make a smaller piece. Sponged the edges of the sentiment and assembled.
I was happy to see that the misting looks better after it dried, but I sure made a mess. Everything was wet!
I'm also not comfortable with collage, but I think this might qualify for that technique ?? This is a card unlike any that I have ever made before. Thanks for the challenge that pushed me out of my comfort zone!

Love what you did with this Val! All that masking on 8 cards- WOW! It truly is a wonderful collage, something I have not been successful with! Beautiful job misting with just the right touch of color!

I applaud you for really pushing thru with these challenges. Your collage stamping turned out great and it does require skill to plan how to layer, mask and colour your design to get it right. And you got it right! Thanks for joining us this week.

What a fantastic masculine card, Val. I hear you about messy craft rooms. As much as I try to stay up with it, it overwhelms me sometimes. Can't see past the clutter - LOL. Again, wonderful card.

I like this one the best - I think the transparency of the ships log on this one contributes to the feel of the open sea. Great job with all that masking - and misting, lol!
