"Starry, starry night...." got that Don McLean song in your head now? I couldn't resist making a card honoring Van Gogh after seeing this Limoges box. And as luck would have it, I had just the right stamp! I chose this quote to go with it as Van Gogh never achieved much success in his lifetime...he lived most of his life not very well off...was he mad or did he just suffer from epilepsy as now theorized. He never had much money choosing to spend almost everything on paint (spending money on art supplies, sound familiar?)...his bold, thick paint strokes (sometimes made with a trowel instead of a brush) are his trademark...He applied paint like some drink water (or absinthe in his case)..I wonder what he would think of all the notecards, mugs, and mousepads available today with his paintings on them.
I got the idea for this bg early this morning which prompted a 5:30 am rise..I used Lyra Aquacolors on a swirly bg stamp, then misted with water, and stamped on watercolor paper. I thought it resembled the sky in this painting. I hand cut the easel and ran it through my CB.
I hope you like my little work of art featuring an iconic and masterpiece work of art. And if you're ever in Europe be sure and visit Amsterdam and the museum bearing Van Gogh's name...your mouth will hang open looking at row after row of his brilliance. Got me some big Van Gogh love going on here ;)

A beautiful rendition of Van Gogh's painting! I love that you used an easel to show it off! I love the sentiment too.
When I was staying with my aunt in Hoogeveen, the Netherlands, I daily walked past an apartment where Van Gogh used to paint in the off season. A very ordinary building.

Polly, Polly, Polly...you are an artist after my own heart! Love this outstanding take on the IC AND all the elements that make that card. AND totally envious you have a Van Gogh stamp!!! The layout with easel is genius and that bg is the perfect.
I also loved reading your thought process and the art history of a definite misunderstood ARTist. Wonderful!!!!
