Sun Baked Roses, from my front yard. When these lil roses are not quite in full bloom, I cut them and hang them upside down on my patio cover to dry. In 3-4 days they dry just like this and retain their beautiful colors, and last for years.
These roses are especially dear to me, because they are the lone survivors of those little four inch pots, and were a gift from my sons for Mother's Day when they were in high school. In the past I have used the fresh picked miniatures to adorn cakes, by coating them in egg whites and then dusting in refined white sugar. Once dry, they sparkle like china!
Today I added them to this four inch vase, that looks like a small old time milk bottle. It is so cute, and it was sitting my my desk last Friday morning, with a single, sweetly fragrant apricot colored rose, from the garden of my precious friend Margaret, (vintage stamper). I loved her thoughtfulness, and was reminded how good God is to plant those on our path that bring blessing.
I made a small tag with Verve dies, added some broken petals, small cocoa pearls and some fluffy sprigs, tied on some raffia and added a gingham bow.
Thanks for looking!

This is so pretty Pat. I dry my hyanciathis (dictionary is downstairs!) the same way and enjoy them for a long time. None this year, they didn't do well in the drought.

Aww Pat...this is the flower that keeps on giving, I love it. Truly, I am jealous - a green thumb is something I was not gifted with. If it isn't a paper flower it doesn't stand a chance in this house. You are a blessing my friend. TFS.

These are so beautiful, next time you do the cake - take a pic, I'm sure those are equally as fabulous. Love it. I think I might try something like this. Always looking for a way to decorate the house a little and with plants or flowers that are already dead, I'm sure I can make them last, lol.
