Okay for Sabrina's Chicken Soup challenge, I wanted to achieve a French provincial feel for some odd reason. I have other cute chickens but I was determined to use this stamp that has been a bear for me to use. I tried coloring it with transparent watercolors--nope. I tried markers--nope. I tried colored pencils--nope. By now, I was absolutely TIED to using THIS stamp. I wasn't going to let it defeat me yet again. I decided this stamp was never meant to be colored and so this is what I came up with.
Did I achieve the S-O-U-P? You decide.
S-stitching, shabby
O-since these are french eggs, they are oeufs
U--umber tones (I know it's a stretch, but seriously?)
P--provincial, plaid ribbon

As soon as I saw the chicken image I knew I had to come and see what your SOUP 'recipe' was! I knew it'd be creative and clever and you didn't disappoint. Nice colour choises and the dried sprig is a wonderful embellishment.

Umber is good - and since my mother was half French oeuf is even more perfect! So is the French script between your great rustic looking rooster. Some stamps certainly work well uncoloured and this looks great just sponged. I'm sorry you had such stress with it, but you've come up with a lovely card. The dried flowers are a perfect addition for the rustic look.

I love the stitching and the dried flowers and the way you stamped the chicken wire over the french background. Despite your difficulties with the stamp, you turned out a great card!
