I love making cards for HYCCT because it really does feel like sending hope! However, sometimes working to meet the challenges is a real stretch! Last night I worked a while making some cards for my pastor husband and then I just decided to make a card in my own style just for fun! I had to take a Project Runway break (priorities!) and then I was checkin' in on the Free For All Challenge and saw that it was to meet one of the HYCCT challenges. SWEET! I knew right away that I wanted to go back to the very first challenge which was to use things that take us to our "happy stamping place." For me: vintage images, Neutral colors, distressing & sponging, collage stamping, trying new techniques & making cards with a message are all part of my style.
I started with a piece of paper I'd prepare a while back using the Acrylic Distress method I believe. I added another layer with the Weathered bg stamp. I stamped the mesh and the car and added the sentiment that is a good reminder message! I took the tag and stamped it with Weathered also and added the 2nd sentiment which I rock'n rolled with Cajun Craze and Soft Suede along with the clock image. I added the grommet & twine (also a big fave of mine!) and a charm on a 3D glue dot. I stamped the tag image and hand cut it then crumpled and sponged it. Then I assembled the layers: Choc chip base with some distressed old map dp topped by the main panel which I also tore, distressed and sponged.

Okay you make the whole "crumpling cardstock" thing sound so easy - but I cannot make it look so perfectly distressed as you have! You so nailed all those style elements - I love everything about this - the vintage, the message, and all the amazing details. Thank you so much for playing along with us in this awesome cause. Whoever gets your card at the hospital will be amazed!
