I enjoy making whimsical cards, especially those that come from unique inspirations. This humorous card was inspired from a whole host of things from film to song that melded together and made me smile.
CARD (5.5” tall by 4.25” wide)
Front Image: Dog imitating Frankenstein
Front Sentiment: none
Inside Sentiment: “Got Candy?”
I created the base card from red cardstock and scored at the top so that my dog Frankenstein Halloween card opens from the bottom. I used black cardstock for the base of my front panel. I created a moon from yellow cardstock. To give the moon depth I sponged it with a slightly darker ink and added three bat silhouettes. I affixed the moon to my black panel.
For the focal point of the card I took a round of black cardstock matted by red and used it as the backdrop for the Frankenstein dog image. I sponged red around the edges of the backdrop to add depth. I stamped the dog image on white cardstock, colored it, and then fussy cut it out before affixing it to its backdrop. I popped my image panel slightly off the surface overlapping the moon. This completed my front panel that I adhered to my red card base
To create the inside card panel I printed “Got Candy?” on white cardstock. I adorned it with a quarter moon and flying bats to tie everything together.
I also handmade an envelope from heavy white cover stock and decorated it with the same dog image that is on the card.
