This card is to honor Her Royal Highness Queen Polly (Peeps321)! Pol is one of my buds here on SCS and I we have traded stamps, so not only did I want to case one of her cards...I used her stamps too! I LOVE Polly's UNIQUE style!!! I admire her creativity too! Even better, she has a kind heart and a great sense of humor! (She even laughs at my jokes! LOL)
I decided to case this card for the layout: F4A123 Beginnings by peeps321 at Splitcoaststampers
I did move the sentiment and had to raise up the rectangles, but otherwise the layout is the same. No twine bow...The one watch has a bow, so I thought that would be good. And no little birdie at the bottom. (Not sure where that birdie went ;)
Now about this card. Actually, my crackpot assistants, Megan and Lucy found out that the images are really Polly's Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother! Helga and Engelbert (no, not Humperdink) move to the states from Germany in 1885. That cabin you see is their first home. Engelbert (Bert) loved the idea of having lots of land and raising chickens. The chickens did great the first year. Helga would get the eggs every morning and they were so happy. But the second year, the chickens got chicken pox! It was terrible!!! Helga and Bert feared they would have to go back to Germany. But just as they thought all hope was lost, they heard the railroad was going to be coming and they needed men to work! Bert put on his fanciest duds and asked for a job. He was hired on the spot! Hooray! After working for the railroad for twenty five years, Bert was ready to retire. They had a lovely party and gave him this wonderful watch.
So now you know the story. Oh, and that is how Polly got her nickname. Peeps is in honor of the chickens!!! Well, at least that is what Megan and Lucy told me. The fact that they have the same names as my dogs, is just a co-inky-dink!
Luv ya Pol!!! Thanks for taking a peek!!!

Kathleen, what has gotten into you? I thought I was reading one of those Teapot Tuesday silly stories at first; I was really wondering where this was all coming from! But then I figured it out. How special to let everyone know a bit of Polly's story. Your card is definitely a Polly card indeed. And how sweet to honor her by a special story right on the card itself! It shows true friendship and a perfect tribute to dear Polly~

OK, first you use my stamps, then you tell my story...what's going on here!? This totally cracked me up! And one of the funny things is...it's very close to my "real story"! I think perhaps you gleaned from my last name that I am in fact of German decent (about half) and your story of my ancestors could be about right..I don't know their names but they could have well been Helga and Englebert! I know I had GG parents who did have chickens on their farm..etc..I better comment on the lovely card..WOW, fantastic depiction of my relatives, love the lake home (lakes are very dear to my heart), and the bee button in the corner is so cute!! You've out done yourself Kathleen!! I LOVE IT! Thanks for honoring me in this special way xoxo
