I made this a sample for Lee's fun HYCCT challenge to "show off our cupcakes" and make a pretty cupcake wrapping or box, plus a card suitable for mailing to MD Anderson.
The wrapper part was easy . I downloaded a template and cut it out. Then I sponged it with Spun Sugar, and stamped little paisley stamps and flowers over it with ColorBox Pink, and then added white highlights a la bandanna technique. To make it greaseproof and to add a little frill at the top, I backed it with waxed paper and used decorative scissors to cut along the top edge. A strip of double-sided tape will hold it closed, but in the meantime it's tucked into my back pocket.
The card base is faux denim - blue card, plus broken china, faded jeans and chipped sapphire. I stitched round the edges, and along the top of the pocket, with pink thread, and then stitched the pocket to the base. I added a couple of pink snaps in the top corners.
Owl and cupcake are from Hero Arts, stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with distress inks. I used AppliGlue for the swirl on the frosting - and even had some microbeads coloured pink for sprinkles .
As an alternative to the wrapper I made a little cupcake tag that can go in the pocket too - Penny Black Critter Party mice, sentiment from Lots of Thoughts, a little bit of pink paper trim and a tab with another pink snap.
oh my gosh, how cute is THIS?!?! I so love the little tag going into the pocket... and the denim pocket is such fun! your little owl gives me a case of the giggles! just perfect!
