Wow, let my childhood run wild through my head this week, but went back to the thing I thought of FIRST when I came up with this challenge!
Now, its nothing like the amazing story story Pat had, but it's one of those warm, fuzzy memories from my childhood summers. We were by no means 'out in the country', but in the 'suburbs', and unlike most houses in Philly, my parents had an ACRE of property - Dad had grown up in a section of the city that had steep hills and a postage stamp backyard, so they wanted some ground for us kids to be able to play! My maternal grandparents had a farm that we went to on weekends till I was about 10 (lots of memories there too-especially the "chicken-plucking type") - LOL - so when we got our house in Philly, my Mom always planted a garden so we could have fresh veggies. We had a "woods" next to us across the "crick", but no deer - I think it was mostly possums and skunks -eww- so the garden didn't need any BIG fence, just a short chicken wire one.
My card was made, remembering how we used to pick tomatoes in the afternoon, all hot from being in the sun, wipe off them off on our shirts and go across the "crick", and up the ladder into the treehouse - well, it wasn't a 'house', only a platform up in the tree, way in the back of the property where Mom couldn't see us, but it was where we would go to enjoy our to-maters - what a wonderful treat, sucking all the sweet juices out of them!! I KNOW - kind of a dumb story, isn't it?? but it makes me smile to think back about it!
I used some tomato DP, an image of a basket of tomatoes we left for Mom, and used my Kittie Kit to do the tree (about time I did a tree with it!) and drew in the treehouse platform and a ladder! Sentiment is computer generated.
Thank you to Kittie for all the inspiration she provides in creating "scenes" like this, though I don't have all the things she uses, I was definitely inspired by her!
Not a very exciting story, but a really great memory for me, remembering the treehouse my Dad made for us, the "crick", and those delicious 'maters on a hot summer afternoon!
If you want to join us for the TSC, make your card about a childhood memory, and put TSC0817 in your keywords - we would love to hear your story too!! Thanks for looking!

What a sweet card with such precious memories! Sue I have a metal lawn chair that I keep back by my garden for the same thing. I go back there pick a tomato, wipe it on my shirt sit and eat. Jerry laughs because when I take the salt shaker out he knows what I'm going to do. I love the tree on the card and bg paper you used. The little basket of maters is pretty. This is a great challenge. I love hearing everyone's stories.

Aaaaack! Love this memory! What a beautiful card Greenie. Kathy has a tree house, and 20 acres of tomatoes, and in the summer time we had "Tomato Wars", started my Matt, winging one from tree house past his old aunties head! Bwahahahaha! Great challenge you thru down Sistah! This was fun and we really got to learn a lot, like why we's Twisted! Lymi

We had a tree house too!!! I read your story and wondered if you and I weren't friends as children and didn't know it!!! Your story took me back to when each of us kids (4 of us) had a little 5X5 plot in Dad's garden where we planted our favorite veggie. Big Bro was squash, Little Bro was cucumbers, Little Sis was green beans and Mine was Damatas! When Dad asked who made the salad, we'd say we all did. Thanks for bringing back the memroies!!! Wonderful card too. Isn't it funny how the memories got more comments than the cards!!!!

Sue very cool story. I didnt have a treehouse up in a tree, but we used to make a lot of forts, lots in bushes and grass, sometimes we might find a scrap or 2 of wood. and the fresh veggies, that would have been a treat. my tomatoes are just coming into eating time and I wait all year for that because the store ones have NO flavor. Love how you call it the crick..lol. Must have been so cool to have like a huge backyard like that but still a city or bigger town right there. sweet. Great tree picture. Just want to join you and climb it and have a couple tomatoes and ice tea..:0)...TFS..:0)

What a cute card and story. Love the to-matoe's. At first, I thought you were going to say you and your siblings had tomato fights in the tree house. Well, guess your siblings weren't as onery as me. Sister, sister, your story is just as amazing as Pat's so do not make that comparison. We all have our very own special memories to hang on to. Hang on to this precious memory of your dad building your tree house with love. Watch out, tomato fight, Shirt has entered the building. (tree house)

Oh Greenie, I am soooo jealous, I would have loved to have a treehouse when I was a kid. I would have taken my peanut butter sandwiches and a book and hidden from the world, looking down on then when I wanted to.....a great childhood memory - we use to visit my aunt in the suburbs and she was surrounded by farmers who grew tomatoes for big companies....they use to let us go and pick some to take home, and they were mmm mmm good. Great Card.
