When I saw the DTGDLilLuvsStampin challenge, I knew immediately what I wanted to do for it. I followed a technique by Melstampz (link below) that combines dry and heat embossing on patterned paper. I love the result!
For mine, I embossed a piece of pretty paper with the Sizzix Herringbone EF, swiped the raised part with Versamark, and clear-embossed that. I then applied Old Paper Distress ink, which colored parts of the non-embossed area to give it more contrast.
I added the ribbon, then decided it didn't need a sentiment.

Beautiful pattern! I agree it looks terrific just as is, but when you decide to send it out you could always add a small sentiment stamped die cut on the ribbon.
I'll have to try this technique myself!
