This was my first attempt at Andrea Ewen's CAS sketch for the Viva la Verve July sketch challenge. I have a friend who can make over a dozen CAS cards in an evening, but it seems to take me hours to figure out the simple part. I followed Andrea's sketch for this prayer card, but I think using all the punches, embossing folders, nesties, and doing heat embossing changed it from being simple to difficult.
I used opaque white embossing power to emboss the white CS behind the scallops, the raised flowers on the rounded rectangular piece, and also the card base. I then had to fussy cut around the scallops to remove the white from in between each scallop. I stamped the Curvy Cross (Verve PJ) on the brown DP, cut it out, and applied a pearl colored with a brown marker to the center.
Did I follow the sketch? Yes.
Was it simple? No.
Do I make things more difficult than they need to be? Goes without sayin'.

Haha...welcome to my world of CAC! (Clean and complicated!) I hear ya, sister, on trying to make CAS cards...I just don't think they're in my genes! My brain says to keep adding stuff, even though I KNOW I should stop! And you know what? It doesn't matter! If your card looks phenomenal, which this one does, why do you have to squeeze it into a label (CAS)? Not necessary! The goal is a beautiful card. Mission accomplished.
