My neice is expecting their first child, a girl. They've decided on a name - Ruby! So... how could we not take the lead and plan her baby shower around a ruby slipper theme?? I found this template for the baby shoes at Quietfire Designs:
I bought red coordinations cardstock from JoAnns. It was the right weight and allowed me to bow out the shoe for some shape and form. I covered the front/toe area with a chunkier red glitter, also from JoAnn's. Added the rose from Wild Orchid Crafts and then a ruby rhinestone as the shoe button/buckle. I've made quite a few for decorations and favors and they looked cute all lined up in a row - sort of like the Rockettes for Babies! But for posting here, I'm just showcasing one pair. Oh - the template makes a right and a left shoe! Makes a difference on the button placement and the shoe is about 3" long.
Thanks for Looking.

These are great!
Isn't wonderful to be able to make something that has so much meaning for the person you are making it for?
Wanna make some for my daughter's stuffed horse RUBY????
Thanks for sharing!

You did such a fabulous job with these, just the right amount of glitter, smart to stop and not do the heel. How could your niece not be absolutely delighted? Looks like both niece and grandniece are lucky gals to me.
