i love robins and every year they lay their eggs in various, rather unsafe areas of our yard.
i overlaid the photo on a grungy paper, multiplied it, clipped it and lower the opacity to about 35. i used sheet music paper as an overlay and lightened the opacity to about 50 and the used a grungy brush to erase the notes from the eggs.

candy,
most of those crumpled pages, templates, whatever they are called come in a gray. i've found if i color them slightly first with a color from the photo or other paper first and then overlay and clip and THEN start playing with blending modes it helps and increasing saturation if you dont want that faded look. and frankly some just work better than others and i am not sure why.
