I had to play along with the Queen for the Day Challenge to honor a fellow Navy wife, Roberta aka stampin'nana. I, of course, found a couple of cards with a nautical theme and went from there My JMU Graduate by stampin'nana at Splitcoaststampers and Old Time Schooner by stampin'nana at Splitcoaststampers. I have this cool Stampendous Oval Rope Frame stamp that reminded me of the oval framing on the one card and I used markers to ink it up then added some extras with markers and watercoloring with markers on acetate. I sponged the sky and sea on the main image. I stamped the dad onto the banner and the compass rose in the top corner as Roberta had. I used a map dp piece for the bg, sponging the edges and added a sailor's knot instead of a ribbon. I used the itty bitty bg to add some spatter to the image panel.

Gail, I think you outdid yourself on this one! What an amazing card with the twine knot, spatter, distressing and that gorgeous rope frame! Wow! I love it all, but then again, I, like you, am partial to nautical cards! What a beauty! Thank you for playing along in this challenge to honor me today! I am so blessed to know sweet ladies like yourself. : )

Terrific masculine card, Gail. Love your tall ship image and the surrounding rope frame. The sponging and distressing are so well done. A wonderful card to honor Roberta.

I LOVE this card!!! I wanted to case that card too (with the oval), but just didn't like the ship stamps I have right now. But YOUR ship is amazing!!! That oval rope framing the ship is perfect and your rope with the knot is amazing!!! Your distressing is wonderful and the whole card is inspired!!! Really love it so much!!!
