So I've given up on shaking off my headache and I'm taking a break from the mountains of laundry to play along in the VSN. When I saw that we were to be inspired by The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald...I knew right away what I wanted to do. I had browsed through the Inspiration Website Polli and found these cool ship earrings http://www.polli.com.au/earrings-1/s...r-earrings-sml and knew I had a very similar charm. I had also perused this week's queen cathymac's gallery and found this cool card SC131 Patriotic Thanks by cathymac at Splitcoaststampers in Red/white/blue. I had also seen this sailor's knot recently on fishymom's card Cape Lookout Lighthouse by fishymom at Splitcoaststampers so I followed the link to the tutorial she'd used http://barspaperpursuits.blogspot.co...-tutorial.html. I took 2 sheets of Nautical dp and layered them. I sponged the edges then distressed and sponged them again. I had tried to stamp directly onto the dp, but misfired so I stamped onto white then punched, sponged and adhered. I layered my twine with the knot and hung my cool ship charm from that. I had fun playing and now I've got a card for my retired Navy awesome husband and father of my six kiddos!

What an awesome nautical card!! I love the charm you used. Your twine is knotted nicely too. I'm having a headache too - with my case I think it is the cold air conditioning and then the real hot heat.

You certainly did have the perfect charm. You always make great masculine cards, Gail.
Sorry I haven't had (ok, made!) time to send you a PM, I do hope things are going well with the wedding preparations.
We were at an exhibition of photos from Mongolia while we were in Paris, recent ones and old archive ones from about the 1930s, I think. That made me think of you, too.
