Worst day of our lives....and perhaps the tackiest! Yes it was!
There was a $100 wedding dress, a groom in a tux- arriving to the nuptials on a motorcycle. The reception was at the Rifle, Rod and Gun club- and it was pot luck. The cake was homemade by a friend of mom's. And although it had the shape of a wedding cake, three tiers and all- it was blue. Blue! No kidding. There was some “betting” going on in the back ground too, regarding the life of this marriage and just how long that would be, since we were “so young”. Yep. Once all the formalities were said and done- it was legal ( I think!) As we left for our honeymoon, I told my groom how much I loved him, but I would never marry him again! He agreed, and we are living happily ever after. And that was 36 years ago.
So...even when the wedding you have is not the wedding of your dreams (and this was exactly not what we had in mind), it shows how the worst of times can become the best of times. And the right couple is so much more important than one day. We sure laugh about it now- and this is the only decent photo we have. Why, you say? Perhaps the photographer, a friend of dad's, was a wee bit too “celebratory” and we just never got his photos.
This is for the Twisted Sister challenge to complete a project on our stamp tables, or to bring an idea to life.
Thanks for looking.( I think Bubba has way to much hair, don't you? And I think I am painfully thin....)

Your picture has a dream like quality, and yet shows vividly the happiness you felt getting married to each other! Love the setting in the vines, with those great new SB dies, and all sewn together with your Love. The scrunchy seam binding and all those gorgeous pearls bring lots of class to the memories you cherish of the past 36 years!
So glad you got to make this in celebration of your life together! LYMIMIMI X 2!!

I love your card! It captures the complete happines of the day! I got married in a borrowed, white gown (not even a wedding gown!) & we stayed with a friend & her husband for our honeymoon! That was 28 yrs. ago & we're still happily ever after! Happy Anniversary!

Oh, a birthday and an anniversary?!! May is your month!! Only one photo, but one that gives a good picture of that "many moons ago" day and despite all, there is a smile on your face And, if your wedding wasn't the beauty you had wanted 36 years ago, look how those hands have dressed up that event all these years later...such a lovely backdrop for the skinny couple in the ovalWell loved, Well cherished, Well fed (hee, hee, but that is both spiritually and snickerdoodly with some good bbq meat in there too!! I know, eh, sistah, sistah!! My brother took my photo's at both (yikes) my weddings with the same camera that failed both times 9 years apart. Congrats on making it to the annals of the "WE MADE IT through thick and thin, and we still love each other" pages. Luv Ya both TTMAB

Oh how precious this is. First congratulations! You have lived a lot of life together. It will be 37 years for us in Nov. My SIL did make us a beautiful wedding cake. It was a second marriage for both of us. We kept it low key. We got married in a small church by my friend's husband who was a preacher. He was more nervous than we were! No kidding. Pat I'm so happy for you. This card but I can't say it's really a card. More like a piece of art to celebrate the love you had and still have. You have so many beautiful details. I love the sewing on here along with the nestie shapes. Love the beauty of the color scheme and I love pearls. I can't hardly make a card w/o them. This is just beautiful.

LOL, we only have one photo too because my sister was taking the official photos and somehow the film didn't load properly. At least we had plenty from the honeymoon. Loved seeing this (the title caught my eye) and reading your story. The oval photo is so beautifully framed on the die.
