Before Heather T's week is up as Featured Stamper, I wanted to do one more card CASEing her. I love the way she does snow scenes, especially when she uses masking fluid - a product I'd never heard of before. So I went to an art store and bought some.
Here's my first attempt at using it. Not nearly as perfect as Heather's card that I CASEd:
I punched out a circle to use as a mask for the moon (or is it the sun?!). I used Heather's technique of masking off a centre section of the card, then splattered the masking fluid with a toothbrush over that section. When it was dry, I sponged blue for the sky and a mix of white and blue for the snow. I coloured the stamp with green and red markers, stamped and then sprinkled a tiny bit of white sparkly embossing powder on the trees to dull down their green-ness. I went over the curved lines under the trees with a stardust pen. The moon looked too white so I reverse masked it and sponged it with some white and antique linen - that made it look a bit more like a winter sun - oh well!
I want to play with the technique more as I'm not totally happy with this result. The sky is too pale for a night sky, but if it is a day sky and it is snowing, then it's too blue. And is that a sun or a moon?
Heather, thanks for inspiring to buy the masking fluid and trying your great technique! I've learned so much from you.

Say, Susan, is there anything wrong with a daytime Christmas scene? This is a fabulous look! I need to check out this technique! This is a beautiful card! Congrats on getting done this month's quota on such an early date.
