One of the projects I enjoyed most when I taught 5th grade was the journal that my students created. When I needed a few extra minutes, I would have them make a journal entry and turn it in to me. I would read what they wrote and then write them back. There were no restrictions and it wasn't really for spelling or grammar, but just a chance for me to get to know my students. I loved those journals!
Here's a journal I made for a little girl who recently lost both parents and is being adopted by her aunt. I hope she'll be able to use it to record her thoughts, hopes and fears.
BTW, the dress isn't paper pieced. It's just copics!
