I had previously created a sunrise card and wanted to complement it with a sunset card.
CARD (5.5" tall by 4.25" wide)
I created the base card from deep yellow cardstock and scored it at the top so that my Southwestern sunset card opens from the bottom. I layered the top panel with brown cardstock and a coordinating striped paper. At the interface of the cardstock and striped paper I affixed a slender brown satin ribbon.
For the imagery on the front of the card I elected to create two separate silhouetted images. I created the sunset by sponging glossy cardstock with several inks. I added digital stamps of a saguaro cactus, woman, & grasses to the sunset background and silhouetted them. Using dies I cut the saguaro cactus into an oval and the woman into a sun-like shape. I matted each image on deep yellow cardstock die cut to the same shapes. To complete the card's front panel I affixed the two images and popped them slightly off the surface of the card.
For the inside card panel I decorated white cardstock with a strip of the striped paper and matted it with brown cardstock. I left the panel blank.
I also handmade the envelope from heavy white cover stock and decorated it with a strip of the striped paper to complement the Southwestern sunset card.
