I saved a piece of glittery wrapping paper from one of my Christmas presents that I wanted to use on future projects. This card is the first project that I have used this glittery paper on. I also used one of my own digital images (Moxie the Feline with a broken heart) as the focal point of the card.
CARD (5.5” tall by 4.25” wide)
Front Image: Sad cat holding a broken heart
Front Sentiment: "Blue Without You"
Inside Sentiment: none
I created the base card from navy blue cardstock and scored it at the top so that my missing you cat card opens from the bottom. I layered the top panel with light blue cardstock and a glittery blue upcycled wrapping paper.
For the focal point of the card front I created an octagon shaped image panel from light blue cardstock and layered it with more of the glittery paper. To create my cat image I printed her on white cardstock and colored her using gamsol and colored pencils. Once my cat was colored I fussy cut her out and used an embossing tool to give her added dimension. I affixed her to the octagon shaped image panel and popped her slightly from the surface. I positioned the completed image panel over two scrolled hearts die cut from navy blue cardstock and popped it from the card surface. As a finishing touch I made a banner from light blue cardstock, printed "Blue Without You" on it, and attached it with brads to the card front.
I sprayed the front panel with sealer to help prevent the glitter from flaking off of the card.
For the inside card panel I used white cardstock matted on light blue. I embellished it with a row of the scrolled hearts die cut and embossed from navy blue cardstock. I elected to leave the inside panel blank.
I also handmade an envelope from heavy white cover stock and printed Moxie the Feline holding her broken heart in the lower left corner. I colored her to complement my missing you cat card.
