A friend of mine asked for a birthday card and specified a neutral palette. She loves TONS of details on cards when she can choose, so I decided to test drive the herringbone pattern along with last week's pleated ribbon tutorial from Papertrey Ink. I missed the deadline to post on their site, but I thought I would post the card here anyway.
I purchased most of the papers already patterned, but just to jazz things up a little I created a textured, sponged paper using SU's gold CS as a base.
I definitely found I needed something to help keep all of the pieced paper really adhered (especially the tiny corner pieces) while I was stitching and adding additional layers and details. So after a bit of trial and error on some scraps, I sponged on a mix of Glossy Accents and SU's shimmer paint (Champagne Mist). Not only did this kept everything nice and flat but it also gave the card a bit of extra subtle shimmer.
