One of the images that comes to mind when I think about the holiday season is glistening snow falling on a backdrop of evergreen trees. I wanted to capture this scene on a Christmas card.
CARD (5.5” tall x 4.25” wide)
Front Image: Stand of evergreen trees in the falling snow
Front Sentiment: “JOY"
Inside Sentiment: "May the quiet beauty of the holiday season bring you joy"
I constructed the base card from light blue cardstock and scored it at the top so that my evergreen trees Christmas card opens vertically from the bottom. I layered my base card with a Christmas star print paper over pale mint green cardstock. At the interface of the layers I placed a shimmering organdy ribbon.
For the Christmas scene I sponged a background and stamped several evergreens on it. To create the snow I lightly sponged on white acrylic paint and some shimmering stickles. I die cut the scene into an interesting shape and matted it on deckled light blue cardstock. To add dimension to the card I popped the completed image panel from the surface of the card.
I die cut a Christmas star and embossed it in white with the word "JOY" and attached it to the ribbon with a bow. As a finishing touch I added three diamond-like rhinestones.
For the inside card panel I printed "May the quiet beauty of the holiday season bring you joy" in light blue ink on white cardstock. I matted the panel with pale mint green cardstock and decorated it with layered strips of pale blue cardstock and the Christmas star print paper.
I also handmade an envelope from heavy cover stock and decorated it with a pair of evergreen trees below a Christmas star.
