My nephew's 8th birthday was late last week and this is the card I made for him and for the SCS Inspiration Challenge IC312 of Glenna Jean. I chose this photo as the inspiration behind the colours for my card: http://glennajean.posterous.com/tag/carson
I used one of the newer stamp sets by Stampin' Up called "Dinoraur" which I really, really love and I couldn't wait to bring one of the images to life with my Faber-Castell + Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils. I added some Glossy Accents to the black markings on his back plus his claws.
As you can probably tell, I did a ton of aging with Vintage Photo Distress ink and a seasponge.
The ROAR sentiment I made from the Stampendous Typewriter Alphabet clear set and I had a hard time trying to line up the letters neatly all in a row so went for an uneven line which I think looked more fun.
I used my Spellbinder Pinking Circle Nestabilities (LOVE the pointy bits - they're so dinosaury!!) to diecut the rust and pale olive cs and popped them on top of each other to get the double-spikey effect then popped this image panel up on dimensionals.
The dp's are one of my all-time favourite papers called "Archaic" by Basic Grey.
For the side panel, I ran the dp through my Cuttlebug using my CB Mesh ef then distressed it with some sandpaper. The pale olive cs border was made with a Martha Stewart Embossed Zigzag edge punch. The ribbon is from my stash; sorry I don't know who made it.
The sentiment inside my card using the sentiment from the SU Dinoraur set and says: "Roar (that means Happy Birthday in dinosaur)". I have a pic of the decorated card inside on my Blog if you are interested.
Lastly, I added 3 Kaisercraft Daffodil Sparklets to the bottom RH corner.
Thanks so much for peeking at my card! Please come and have a peek at my blog where I have a close-up photos etc. - this link will take you directly to my card: http://instead-of-ironing.blogspot.c...hday-card
