Today's 'inspiration challenge' reminded me of my own personal challenge that I've been facing for a while now. That is that my style is definitely NOT vintage...although the vintage style has really taken over in the creative industry. As a greeting card designer, I know that card design is not about me, it's about the person that will receive the card, and that person may totally LOVE the vintage style! So what's a girl to do?
What helps me is the variety of vintage papers and inks available that help to 'age' our projects. In this case, I've first cut some images out of paper I purchased at Paper Source. Then I've sponged a little antique linen ink around the edges and matted it as if it was a photo. This gives me a vintage look but retains my clean and simple style. The result: I LOVE it too!
This was so much fun, I might try my hand at another one later today! Thanks for looking!
Note: At first I didn't like the smoking woman in this image, but then I remembered that smoking was one of our first 'freedoms' in the 1920s. So it's worth respecting in this vintage image despite the health risks we are aware of today.
