Wendy gave us the challenge to make a card for someone with their likes, hobbies, intersts in mind. This is a birthday card for my dear Aunt who will celebrate her 94th birthday next month. She is very prim and proper and loves all things floral and feminine.
Trish chose Joan Ervin for our "Queen for the Day". Joan has brought us a bevy of new techniques every Monday morning. I chose to use the one she introduced June 28, 2010 called "Pounded Flowers" for TLC279. One smashes flowers/vegetation through one's Cuttlebug. I had some greenish hydrangeas still on the bushes so I used them, The first time I did this for Joan's challenge, I used pink and lavender hydrangeas and got more beige tones. This time I did get more greens. I think this technique creates the most beautiful and intertesting bg.
Congratulations, Joan.......and thank you for all the wonderful techniques you have introduced us to.

Sallie, this is gorgeous and your Aunt is sure to love it. I remember doing the pounded flower technique and really liked it. You did a super job.

Wow! This is so interesting! Isn't it fun to be surprised sometimes instead of always knowing how things will turn out! Great card, so soft and pretty for an older person. She's sure to love it!

This turned out so beautifully Sallie. You would have laughed at the mess I made with this technique until I got the right flower mix. I had many flowers that were too fleshy and I ended up with a liquidious mess. One thing that came out very well was herbs, particularly parsley. It produced a gorgeous green and kept it's form well. Like you, I had great success with hydrangea.

What an interesting technique...maybe if I get outside quick I can grab some flowers before we get a hard freeze and try it myself...This is a lovely card: subtle and elegant with just a hint of sparkle from your gold krylon accent. Happy Birthday to your aunt!
