This week our cards are going to Sharon in Ohio. She usually heads south to Arizona for the winter, but not this one, due to some surgeries and rehab, so we're sending a little of the desert heat her way!
Hot Weather Heather
and Arizona Mona,
have their gloves of leather
for their beautiful cactus garden.
The blooms are out, in all their glory
the nights are warmin'
they're getting past forty.
It's the last show of the season
the snowbirds are heading back
the heat is coming, they see no reason.
To stay in the desert and feel the heat,
the long mild winter has been such a treat.
They head on up northwards and follow the sun,
no sense sticking around
to feel like a honey bun.
They'll be back again,
on the quest for mild climes,
when autumns leaves start to fall
and the north winds blow through the chimes.
I've used this stamp before for desert scenes, it's one I never get tired of. This time the flowers are in glorious daylight. The flowers have been stamped again and colored and paper pieced for extra dimension. They are all at varying levels. The desert floor was chalked, then real coral pink sand from beautiful southwestern Utah is added over top. So not only am I sending a nice desert scene, but I'm actually sending some of the desert to Sharon. The main image is mounted on a piece of suede paper that has been punched with a southwestern motif.
The envelope has a rattlesnake stamped on it and the inside of the card has the negative pieces from the punch and a lizard (it's on the left side).
I hope that this doesn't make Sharon too homesick for the desert and her Grandchildren.
I hope it brings her cheer and thoughts of the desert in the spring!

Grin, I bet they need their leather gloves. DH tried feeling one of this in Greece last year, and he still hasn't forgotten it. Mind you, the ones there didn't have such lovely big fresh looking blossoms on them as your lovely stamp does.

That's a beautiful card, Jennifer. I love the colors, movement, and dimension. Sharon will certainly feel comforted from the time she sees your special envelope, and will love the card front and inside.

Jennifer, does this have some of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP sand that accidently "Got stuck on your shoes"? I think if I look in my binders of cards from others, there may be one from you very similar to this one.
