As I was watching the 9/11 remembrances and the replay of the news 10 years ago, I realized how 'dirty and hot' our world became. The dust cloud that enveloped lower Manhattan, the fires that broke out in the WTC and the Pentagon, creating all that ash, the absolute pulverizing of flight 93 in Pennsylvania to the point that the wreckage blended in with the field. But much of this 'dirt and heat' was not just steel and concrete and jet fuel, it was the lives and DNA of our fellow countrymen and neighbors around the world. So I wanted to do a very 'clean and cool', peaceful card and what better than a picture of snow covered trees. The card of Lisa's that I CASE'd also used a photograph and the batik technique so that is what I kept. The picture was taken last winter in Wisconsin after a snow storm. I layed my card out a bit differently because I wanted more background to show and I used another piece of handmade paper to stamp the sentiment on. I had a bit of the batik background left so I cut some photo corners. Unfortunately the world is not more peaceful and clean and cool than it was that day but we can hope for tomorrow. This card is in memory of my cousin's best friend, who died that day. This has been a sad day for me, cannot imagine what the families and friends are feeling. Beautiful card! 911 was a tragedy that won't soon be forgotten! Although I live in Canada, I remember exactly what I was doing when we got the news of that tragic day. World peace would be a wonderful thing.
