I'm excited to be part of the Splitcoaststampers CAS Design Team for the fall 2011 season! However, I have to say I groaned a bit when I received the first challenge theme - shoes. I have exactly two stamps that would work for that theme - the boots from SU's Branch Out set (and I'm still befuddled why they put those in there), and the flip flops stamp that I chose to use.
I always like to have a purpose for making a card, whether it's for a specific person or something I can donate to Operation Write Home. I finally came up with a sentiment that I thought would work for OWH. I hesitated at first to use it because it looks like I misspelled "soul mate", but then when you see the flip flops the pun becomes more apparent. Then I decided the "sole" could also mean "only"... so maybe it's a card promoting monogamy. The interpretation is up to you! ;)
Here's something I discovered while creating this card. Coloring Apricot Appeal over Pretty in Pink results in a color very very similar to Groovy Guava (at least on Naturals Ivory cardstock). That's what I used for the tiny flowers on the flip flops. My Bliss Blue marker (yes, most of my SU markers are THAT old) turned out to be a really close match to Soft Sky.
Thanks for taking a closer look at my card! Comments are always welcome.

Gosh, I just think it's freakin adorable! LOVE IT! I have to admit, I had a problem with the challenge too (I'm a bad girl and I hate shoe shopping! Hope they don't take away my girlie license!) Thanks and congrats on being on our team!

What a perfect card for the group you make cards for - I think is fun to try and make cards when you only have limited images that would work - it brings out your creativity. Great card.

Lovely card, and as you said, can be taken several different ways. Love the band across your card...I can't tell if it is pleated ribbon, DP, or pleated paper....whatever it is, it is lovely.
