I just had to try making a collage card for today's Ways to Use it challenge. It's my first one and I had an idea what I wanted to do, but I can see that I need a whole lot more practice.
I stamped a woodgrain stamp for the bg on cream CS, then lightly stamped the fern several times, added a few dragonflies and butterflies, then the rose "vine" at the bottom in bolder colors. Finally the circle and the sentiment to be the focal point. I sponged the whole piece with three different colors altho they don't show up much. I distressed the edges of the dp mat, and attached to green Core'dinations CS. This card took at least 1 1/2 hours to make. I think my main problem with collage is composition - I just don't "get" how to pull things together.

When I saw the thumbnail and the title (First Collage), I said to myself "Well, I think you nailed it!". I too struggle when I set out intentionally to make a collage -- it feels kind of forced, if you know what I mean. Yet I suppose some of the cards I make could be classified as collage. Maybe I just should not think so much!
This is a grand card. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to stamp that circular stamp on another plainer piece of cardstock (leaving off some of the stamps you used) and lift it with dimensionals over top of what you have there right now.

What a pretty card!! I LOVE the wood-grain in the bg!! It looks fabulous! This was my first try @ collage-ing, too!! I think I will definitely be revisiting this technique!!~

I like your card, especially the border on the bottom. The one thing I like about a collage is the fact you don't have to have everything perfectly straight. tfs
