Another fab Inspiration site! Love all those vintage clothes and shoes! I'm still in a patriotic mode, so when I saw these shoes The Patriot, I knew these new flag and soldier images from Our Daily Bread designs\ would be perfect! And the image of this soldier is just so moving! I'm also adding this to the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge #67 (red, white & blue).
The old flag image was stamped w/ the indigo ink and I used Prismacolor pencils to color it in. I wanted it to show in the bg so I stamped the soldier and sentiment on vellum. I used the white permapaque marker to color him on the backside so he'd be more visible. I did the same for the sentiment then stitched down the left side of the vellum.
On an angled piece of vellum, I embossed it w/ the stars ef and attached everything to the flag bg. I used a new toy (Seweasy stitch piercer) and went around the edge then hand stitched it using a quick whip stitch. I attached some die cut stars on the right side. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.5.
Thanks so much for looking! My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.

Julie,
This is so beautiful! (I just received this set the other day from ODBD). How did you like the Sew Easy - I may be doing something wrong because my stitches didn't turn out nearly as well as yours. Again, beautiful card!

Julie, your work with this image is so moving. Your hand stitching and beautiful vellum is stirring. The background is perfect to bring out a heart-moving prayer for those who serve this country. Wonderful in every way. Thanks so much for sharing this work of art! Hugs...
