Summer! Such a fun time of year. OK, maybe I'm still thinking July 4th, but this card isn't just for that. It's mainly a tribute to those who serve(d). And that always makes me think of parades to welcome them home. Lots of parades in the summer. I was in the marching band throughout school, so I marched in a lot of parades, football games and even an NFL Football game.
For my card, I started with the circle of stars and die cut it. The first part of the USA greeting and used a technique I call "Nestie resizing" to die cut it. The original label 18 was much larger, but I resized it to fit my USA. The big star behind it is also a die cut.
The blue background was stamped with the interlocking stars with denim ink for a tone on tone look. The red and white layers were pieces I had on the table and by themselves, weren't big enough but together they made a nice layer. I bet you have some left over pieces laying around. Sometimes it makes things interesting to use odd size pieces.
The second half of the greeting was inked with markers and I used a tag to die cut it. The finished card measures 4.25 x 5.50
Thanks so much for looking! Have a great weekend and if you see a man or woman in uniform, give them a pat on the back and a hearty "Thank You". They deserve it! Closeups are on the DRS blog. Julie this is a beautiful card. I love your sentiment. I have fun memories of parades as well. They would throw candy as they went by, so we'd go home with bags of candy to enjoy!
