This page is for Patti's Thursday challenge (ThursFS0512). We had to use the background color of our kitchen, photos= # of windows in our kitchen and if we have a lot on our counters, fill up the page. I started out with a lot more showing of the light background, but covered a lot to make my photos and journaling a little bigger. I have 5 windows in the breakfast nook off my kitchen and I have lots of things on my counters!
We spent 16 days visiting friends in Sydney, Australia in April-May 2008. We were treated to a yummy homemade dessert called Pavlova, treasured by Australians. In case you canÂ’t read it on the page, hereÂ’s my journaling:
“One of the days we were at Beth and Jeff’s, Beth made us a special treat--one of the most popular desserts served in Australia. Pavlova is a fluffy meringue confection traditionally topped with whipped cream and fruit.
ThereÂ’s a story that goes with Pavlova! The dessert is believed to have been created in honour of the Russian ballet dancer, Anna Pavlova, either during or after one of her tours to Australia and New Zealand in the 1920s. The nationality of its creator has been a source of argument between the two nations for many years and it seems neither country intends to back down! Either way, the dessert is a popular dish and an important part of the national cuisine of Australia & is frequently served during celebratory and holiday meals.
We enjoyed watching Beth make this yummy dessert, which she topped with strawberries and kiwis.
Not only did this dessert look gorgeous, it tasted great too. As the story goes, the dessert was named after Anna Pavlova because it was “light and airy” like the ballerina herself. After watching it being made and tasting it, I can understand how it earned its name.”

How nicrly you scrapped this memory. And what a yummy looking treat! Like the green gingham journal box and the bg paper. It all matches the Pavlova colors so well.
