This is for the Rhapsody at Ruche inspiration challenge (SIC99) where we were to draw inspiration from a ladies clothing website named “Ruche.” I like the vintage feel to this site. Several items gave me inspiration for this page, but this dress (and title) inspired me most:
I had the good fortune to not only have a great mom, but a great stepmom as well. This page is about my stepmom, who was a very talented lady.
Journaling: “I was blessed to have Joanne in my life. Joanne was my stepmom—wife to my dad for the last 30 years of his life. Joanne always walked on the sunny side of the street. She had many talents, but I think the one that brought the most joy into the lives of so many was her music. Joanne entertained people at all kinds of events, beginning with the accordian (which she could take anywhere) in her late teens and branching out to piano, organ, ukelele, electronic keyboard as the years went on.
Back in the 50Â’s one could hear her live piano playing nightly over the radio waves broadcast from the Westward Ho hotel in downtown Phoenix. She also played at annual desert gatherings, parties, dinners, concerts and for friends and family. An evening for anyone who was family or friends of Joanne wasnÂ’t considered complete unless she had played a few tunes on one of her instruments!
Joanne was an awesome musician and was totally self-taught. She played by ear and could pick out any tune a person might hum to her, complete with harmony, in just a few minutes. And it would sound as if sheÂ’d been playing it for years!
Dad adored her and was so proud whenever he was around her music—which was most of the time. I was proud too and attended several of her concerts when they moved to Sun City. She was 91 when she passed away in February 2005 and was still playing the piano for her friends at the Senior residence every Sunday up until the last few weeks of her life. Joanne was a bundle of upbeat energy and a great addition to my life. I know she’s still walking on the sunny side of the street up in Heaven!”

Wow Wendella, this is awesome. What a neat lady. You needed a two page layout to share the story about your Step-Mom and you did a magnificent job on it.

What a sunshiney layout. It makes me feel happy just to look at it! I love the journaling about your step-mom. Sounds like she was a wonderful lady, and you have done a beautiful tribute to her in this layout. TFS.
