I pressed white Premo clay into a vintage brass bezel. Trimmed the clay at the edges of the bezel, poked a hole, then stamped with an Asian script stamp. The stamp was in a Premo kit I bought a couple years ago.
After the pendent was baked, I painted it with an Apple Green acrylic paint. As soon as the paint was dry to the touch, I painted a dark brown stain over the surface, then mopped and gently rubbed the stain off. I repeated this 2 more times.
Because I didn't allow the paint to "cure", some of it rubbed thin in places, allowing the white clay to show through. The stain changed the color in those places a bit, giving it the somewhat distressed look I was after.
After it was good and cured, I added 1, thin coat of glossy glaze.
Later I added the jump ring and brown cord. I used the cord rather than a chain because I wanted the brown color of the cord to go with the brown stain. The chains I have are too shiny and not the right color to go with that aged brass bezel.
The glaze caused reflections on the surface of the pendant when I was taking pics of it. I didn't use my flash because I was using macro to take the pictures. I shot this at all different angles and in various lighting. I coudn't escape the reflection, which "fades" the dark stain in some of the recesses.
In my head I was seeing it looking like very old jade. It didn't turn out the way I wanted, but it's ok just the same.
This was very easy to do. It was a trial run and I liked it. I'll have to get more bezels and do more of these.
