Our challenge this week in the Crafty Secrets member forum is to do some watercolouring.
I chose to use Distress inks as watercolours and made a birthday card for my dad. The deep brown background layer is Cryogen White cardstock that has been spritzed with multiple layers of walnut ink - it gives a lovely mottled, almost leathery look.
I'm much happier with the card than with the photo of it, I just couldn't get the richness of colour to show well no matter what I tried!
Stamps:
Bird Notes (Clear Art Stamps by Crafty Secrets)
Swirl from Mini Memories (Clear Art Stamps by Crafty Secrets)
Sentiment from Kinkade Birthday Expressions (CHF, retired)

Stazon by Tsukineo (Timber Brown)
Distress ink by Ranger (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint - as watercolours, tumbled Glass)
Other:
Walnut ink (crystals dissolved in water in a mister bottle)
Natural raffia
Fancy brad (Making Memories)

What a lovely card. Beautiful colouring!!! I love how you framed it with the spritzed paper and the beautifully contrasting raffia!! I love the fancy brad too!
Beautiful! Are you allowed to say that about a guy card? Love the softness of color you were able to achieve with the watercolor and the leather look background turned out great!

This is a wonderful card for your father. I always forget that sometimes what I would consider a feminine object (ie: birds) becomes very masculine when stamped in brown! That would probably hold true for some flower stamps as well. I know how rich the background is as I've done the same thing myself.
