I was asked to make a project for a man retiring at my workplace. He is more than a maintenance man since he goes out with our sales reps and helps them install medical equipment in medical offices, surgery centers and clinics. I made this tray from some new wood core frames at Archivers. They are made from wood fibers and are terrific to work with! I took the frame and wrapped it in aged paperback novel pages. I used flour and water as my glue ala paper mache so the papers would be flexible to wrap around the frame. Once I was finished wrapping the strips of book papers around the frame I let it dry or cure and then used Ranger Distress walnut stain and Modge Podge to seal it. I used some great papers I found at Archivers from 7 Gypsies paper racks. I was looking for masculine and vintage papers. I then found all these wonderful trinkets at Archivers in the Tim Holtz section, and selected the gears, lamps, pocket watch case, and other wonderful trinkets. I used Glossy Accents as my attaching glue as it really is a superb clear glue for attaching trinkets to projects. This was fun and it was fun to give to the retiree!
