Today Julia challenged us to use decorative scissors. I haven't used these in years, and now remember why...not sharp enough, difficult to manipulate, etc. It was however a fun challenge to use something from my early papercrafting days.
One of the earlier cards posted today was a collage by mamaxsix: Craft Desk Collage by mamaxsix at Splitcoaststampers that inspired me as well as the collage style that Carol AKA BobbiesGirl has been using as of late. So, here is my first attempt at a collage style card.
Inked SU Print Pattern with Apricot and added Pumpkin highlights, then stamped a vanilla card. Stamped the Rubbernecker image in Archival Sepia on Vanilla CS, cut with decorative scissors to resemble an old photo. Masked the edges and sponged with more sepia, then stamped the Crafty Secrets sentiment also in sepia. Ran a piece of kraft through TH Rays EF, and offset mounted on a BG scrap. Earlier in the day I had dampened and crumpled an MS ribbon, used that to tie a bow around all. (Thanks Brenda/ Benzi for posting how to do that Added a button from a bag-o-buttons and the sailboat charm with linen thread. Cut the Sizzix/SU butterfly from Soft Sky and applied glitter glass. Mounted that with Scor Tape and added the heart.
I had fun with this but would greatly appreciate constructive criticism to improve my process. Thanks for the inspiration, ladies...you both rock! Thank you so much for looking and have a peaceful day.

Beautiful - this may be your first attempt at collage, but it sure looks like it comes naturally and you've been doing collage for years. Love the color combo and the lay out of your images and the fabulous textures are combined so well. Wonderful!!

Love your image, the embossing folder and the pretty edge. Yep, you are right - the scissors aren't sharp enough. I had a hard time w/ mine too.
Cool to have a punchie neighbor!

This is beautiful - the colors, layout, images and accessories used - it's as if you've been doing this forever! I have a couple of collage stamps, but that's as close as I come to putting one together - the one I did try - looked like the wind just blew some stuff on the card - it wasn't pretty!
