Hello! This card was made for today's Technique Lovers challenge: Trellis.
Now, I have to admit that I HATE roses...My ex was a HUGE "Rose Giver." It meant that he had lied, gotten caught, and was trying to make up for it. I NEVER let on that I hated roses, and the man went to his grave thinking I loved them. (And, NO, I did NOT kill him. LOL) What was funny, was the fact that he paid for them on MY credit card and that I was NOT the only woman he gave roses to while we were married. Yep....You had every right to think I might have done the deed. But, alas, if the man hadn't loved roses so much...Well you've heard if a butterfly flaps its wings... So, if he hadn't been a running around jerk, then, I would have never met my best friend and husband, Mark, and our WONDERFUL little boy would never have been born....So, I guess that means I better LOVE roses...Geez. I better get on to the card. I'm confusing myself!
Simple trellis:
Cut a piece of card stock to size. Find a Spellbinders, Sizzix or Cuttlebug die that will fit in the card stock with plenty of border space. Cut the Die out of the CENTER of the card stock. Run card stock through embossing folder. Run another sheet of card stock through embossing folder. Cut THIN strips from that sheet to form lattice. You will next run adhesive around the back side edges of the cut out from the die. Lay strips across opening and press into adhesive. (Best to start in the middle and work out toward the sides.)Lay next batch of strips in the opposite direction to form the trellis. I wove the these strips through the others.
I added just a sentiment, premium paper rose, and ribbon today. I didn't want to take away from the trellis.
Finished card size: 4 1/4" x 5"
Total time to complete: 63 minutes.

Beautiful card and I love the story. We have the opposite thing going here, we couldn't afford roses and I convinced Mike I loved daisies cuz they were cheap. Now I only get daisies and really think we could slip some roses into the budget now and then ... oh well! Betcha when I die my coffin is covered with ... ugh ... daisies!

Goodness, quite the story, Faith! Sorry you had to go through heartache before your Knight came along ~ worth it in the end. Your rose card is gorgeous today though ... despite your 'issue' with roses!
