I have been working on Easter cards that are spiritual in nature and have a simple greeting. This is one of the cards that I created with this goal in mind.
CARD (5.5” tall x 4.25’ wide)
Front Image: Cross embossed with swirls and entwined with branches.
Front Sentiment: “Blessed Day”
Inside Sentiment: “Happy Easter”
I created the base card from blue cardstock and layered it with fleur-de-lis border punched black cardstock. I crumpled up a piece of plastic wrap and used it to dab blue and brown inks on cream cardstock. Then I gently sponged black over it. I used this inked cardstock for several of the layered elements on the card including the scalloped border punched background layer.
For the focal point of the card, I cut out a cross and heat embossed it with black swirls. I entwined the cross with black branches and then sponged it with color to add depth.
To add interest to the card I popped the cross on a backdrop of the sponged cream cardstock cut with Nestabilities and edged with black ink. I affixed a ribbon across the lower portion of the panel. I heat embossed the sentiment on sponged cream cardstock and attached it with black brads. All of these elements give the card further dimension and visual depth.
For the inside panel I printed “Happy Easter” in black ink on cream cardstock and matted it on black cardstock. Both the black and cream cardstocks were border punched to mirror the card front. I decorated the panel with a strip of the sponged cardstock and popped a small black cross on it.
I created a coordinating envelope from heavy white cover stock and decorated the lower left corner. I sponged inks to create a background for two black branches and a blue cross.
