This is an altered Whitman Chocolate Box I rescued from my DH who was going to throw it away. I had this brilliant idea to alter it and send it to my Mother filled with Lindor Truffles.
My dear Mom has been house bound since late October due to 4 cracked vertebrae in her back. She went down to 86 pounds and wasn't eating much. So I started sending her boxes of chocolates as I know she likes Chocolate.....well I am sending about a box every week!!!lol At least she is up to 90 pounds now!!!
Anyway, I try to send different chocolate for her to enjoy. I know she is going to love this box. It was very easy to do. I just took measurements off the box and started cutting and gluing. I made matching colored roses and white roses that I distressed inked.
So Ladies, if your sweetheart gets you a box of Whitman for Valentine's day, be sure to keep the box and make yourself or someone special in your life one of these pretties.
Believe it or not-I covered this box with the punched borders and papers during two lunch breaks and decorated it in about an hour one night. So I guess it took me about 3 hours....(not counting the flowers and coloring and cutting the image) Not bad right??? lol

There is no way in "chocolate heaven" that this could have only taken 3 hours Carol. My gosh, it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL. What a great way to recycle the box. Even if I tried, I would come no where near to what you have created for your dear mother. This may be the first time that I say I'd rather have the box than the chocolates - now if that doesn't say something about this creation, I don't know what does. I pray your Mom will be okay and if she's gainin', keep on a sending those chocolates; but, you can send the box to me!!! NOT!

Such a beautiful box of candy....I wonder if my candy will come in something that beautiful. NOT!!! Actually, I told my DH there better be no candy coming here on Valentine's Day because I don't want to gain an ounce. But, I sure hope your Mom starts gaining and will be better soon. This beautiful box is sure to cheer her. Love those white hearts with the surrounding pearls, the image, and ALL those gorgeous roses.

Oh, my goodness!! Carol, this is a masterpiece!! I love giving new life to about-to-be-recycled and otherwise-in-perfect-shape packaging. Your mother is going to flip over this (well, maybe not with 4 cracked vertebrae). And how sweet that you are sending her yummy chocolates!! Almost makes me want to break something to get the royal chocolate treatment . . . wait a second, did I really type that?? Scratch it all!! Anyway--this Valentine box is just amazing and full of fabulous details. It must feel wonderful to be able to send such a big box of love to your mom!!!

This is so beautiful! This would be the coolest Valentines gift ever (well, diamonds might be better.... but you can't hand make those). I know your mother will absolutely cherish this forever - I know mine would. In fact, I think I am going to go buy my husband some Whitman's chocolates for Valentines just so I can have the box. I still can't wait for the rose tutorial - I check for it every day. I love your little roses!

You are so 'sweet' (get it?) to repurpose and refill this for your mom, Bearzi. 86 pounds? Wow, that's tiny. Glad the chocolate is helping to put on the pounds for her. Happy Valentine's DAy!
