This masculine card will be for my Uncle Bill's birthday at the end of the month. It was so much fun to make!
First of all, I decided to break out the watercolor supplies for this fantastic forest scene, from a new set called In the Forest, being released today by Mark's Finest Papers. I had a fabulous time painting (my favorite coloring technique--it just makes me so happy!) and love how it turned out. I was in heaven.
Second, I thought I'd try the Martha Stewart deckle edge rotary cutter blade that I bought on clearance last year (nevermind the fact that I don't even have a rotary cutter!) to gussy up what would otherwise be boring straight edges to the panels of my card. I really like how that transformed the forest scene image into something akin to a vintage, possibly hand-colored, snapshot. A kind of cool effect! I used the Poppin' Pastels technique to create the sentiment panel (stamped the sentiment in Versamark and applied baroque burgundy chalk with a sponge applicator).
Ink: Palette burnt umber; SU inks for watercolor painting: bashful blue, crumb cake, old olive; Versamark
Accessories: deckle edge rotary cutter blade, MS modern garland edge punch, SU modern label punch, paintbrush, Stampin' Pastels, sponge applicator, dimensionals, buttons from my stash, hemp twine

I love this image - what a great scene! Great job with your coloring and colors. Looks like it belongs in a story book - so pretty.
