Looks like this bad kitty has a lot of explaining to do about the missing bird. His owner is out on the town tonight enjoying another Adam Lambert concert. He had better think quick and get his story straight before she gets home. “Bird? What bird?” …but the feathers in his mouth will give him away don’t ya think? LOL Just one look at his eyes and you know he’s been up to no good. He sure looks guilty to me!
For my family and friends who I have personally invited to my gallery - I always appreciate it when photos uploaded here on SCS give more information besides “See my blog.” I’ve taken some time to give more information on this card, keeping in mind that I was once a new member here on SCS too. I’m hoping that those of you who appreciate my time to do this will take a moment to leave a comment. I’ve learned so many exciting new things here on SCS over the years. I hope that you too are inspired to make a hand-made card. Thanks for looking!! Happy Holidays – Deb
I learned to make this special Tri-Fold card from this wonderful video tutorial found here in the resource section at SCS. Check out this link to see how this card is constructed. ItÂ’s easier than it looks. The video can be found if you scroll down to the bottom of this page: Tri-Shutter Card Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
Cage and Cat: I altered the bird cage this time by cutting away a portion of the center bar and glued that piece horizontally to make a door. The birdcage was then coated with a thick coat of Crackle Paint to give it a vintage look. The paint starts to crack as it dries – pretty fun stuff! The pearls on the bottom of the birdcage are specialty brads from the Eyelet Outlet. The cat silhouette is a free svg. file from the internet and was cut using my Cricut (without using a cartridge) and the Sure Cuts A Lot program. The whiskers are made with pieces of black craft cord (similar to embroidery thread) that were stiffened with glue and allowed to dry before attaching. His collar was strung with blue seed beads.
Fan: The paper fan on the center panel was made using the Dahlia fold. A tutorial can be found here in the resource section at SCS if youÂ’re interested: Dahlia Fold Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
The large key is made of chipboard. I used a blue Sharpie marker to give it a deep blue color and then topped it with several layers of clear embossing powder using a heat gun.
Vintage Chair and Birdcage: These images are Rub-On Transfers from MichaelÂ’s. The cat on the chair is a 3D dimensional also found at MichaelÂ’s.
Clock: The clock was punched out from Tim Holtz (Lost and Found Collection) paper using a circle punch. The clock hands are hand drawn using a fine marker and ruler for a very special birthday time of 12:08. The gold center is a fussy cut piece of German Scrap. A mini 3mm brad was used in the center. Foam dimensional tape was used under the clock to attach to the card.
Velvet Ribbon: Black velvet ribbon was used on the top center panel. A brass metal ribbon slide was added before gluing the ribbon to the card. The brass charms are attached with a jump ring. If you have received one of these cards, I like to include a charm that says “Made with Love.” You’ll know why the moon charm was added if you know me personally. *wink*
Too much information to read? Better than none at all I always say.
If you are a beginner card maker or new to SCS, I would love to know if this information was helpful to you. Thanks!
