This is my version of the cupcake boxes SU made as pillow gifts for attendees at the last Founder's Circle event. I was really pleased with the way they turned out. Here is how I made them.
Cut dsp from Perfect Setting die with the Big Shot....this is the cupcake wrapper piece from the die
Secure the band with sticky strip or strong adhesive - I got the best results by overlapping the two end scallops which made the box slightly smaller than putting it together normally. I think it just held the cupcake liner better
Put a regular cupcake liner inside - as long as your filling isn't heavy it works just fine.
To make the lid, I cut a 3" circle out of card stock
To make the frosting I used about an 18" length of wide ribbon and with a needle & thread sewed a running stitch along one edge. I left kind of a long tail so that I could just draw the ribbon together in a circle and tie a knot. Then I took about a 9" piece of a smaller ribbon and did the same running stitch.
To put the frosting on the lid, I used my hot glue gun to secure the layers. Regular glue works too, but it takes awhile to dry and I'm impatient.
Then I hot glued a button to the center top.
The cupcake sleave-thing already has holes as part of the design, so I just used those to secure the lid to the base with a waxed linen thread I had laying around. I just used my paper piercer tool to make the adjacent hole in the lid piece.
