The current ODBD Stamping in Time assignment was to think quilts. I did paper quilting on my last card in case I didn't have time to carry through this idea - but with church cancelled this morning because of the snow, I have plenty of time .
This changed a bit from my original plan, which would have ended up half letter-size or a wall-hanging.
I took a 5" square of white card and a 5" square piece of wadding, laid a larger piece of blue silk over and stitched randomly with a metallic Gutermann thread. Then I folded the excess edges of the silk over the back and stitched them down. I added a ruffle of cream organza ribbon. First attempt, despite double checking I had matched the ends correctly, turned into a Moebius strip when I was running the gathering thread. Second attempt proved to be too long and too ruffled. Just over 1 1/2 times the circumference turned out to be about right on the third attempt. I stitched this on from behind. Then I discovered it would only look good on a clear acetate base - more re-thinking required.
Image panel on the front was stamped with Versafine Black on some old curtain lining. I stretched it in an embroidery hoop and coloured with watercolour crayons, trying to keep the brush fairly dry to avoid bleeding. Then I fused it to interfacing and card, cut with a Spellbinders die and overstitched the edges. I added some velvety Prima leaves. For the inside front of the acetate base I stamped the same two images and a sentiment from the same set on a 5" piece of white card, coloured with watercolour crayons, and sponged the edges. For the back of the card I stamped a frame for writing in, and backed it with Bazzill on the back of the card.
