I've just realised that one of my Christmas cards fits one of October's Technique Lovers Challenge's (TLC293 to be precise). I did a pile of these & they've come up beautifully.
First I did the backgrounds. I inked up the 1st 4 inks on the Kaleidacolor Cappuccino Delight ink, with my rubber brayer. I worked out which would be the bottom and then rolling fairly quickly, I rolled backwards and forwards. I used the 2 thirds, 1 third to work out the amount of sky to desert, with the lightest colour in the middle at the 1 third mark. Then I did the same with the Blue Breeze ink, again using the first 4 colours only, with the lightest in the middle, slightly overlapping the Cappuccino Delight ink. I didn't brayer evenly, to add to the desert feel.
Next, I used StazOn Black ink on the Kings of Orient stamp and my Stamp-a-ma-jig, to position the Three Kings. Once dry, I then did my trimming. The Three Kings piece is just wider than the stamp, but a is taller. Then I worked out how much room I had on my card (it's an Australian A5 card folded length ways, rather than in half), and cut up the remain glossy card to fit.
To make up the card, I used the Gold Leaf pen to edge each brayered piece, when dry, I mounted them on Black CS and trimmed it to have 1/16th border. I mounted each of these pieces onto the Mustard card base, with the Three Kings piece at the right and getting smaller from there to the left. Finally, I used Gold Stickles on the main star as it takes the longest to dry.
Nice and simple. Go for it and enjoy this challenge. TFL.
