After a few months off to finish my masters-level endorsement in high school mathematics and deal with some health issues - I am FINALLY stamping again - YEAH! I could not think of a better purpose to re-launch my favorite hobby than a thank you card for the staff at the Artman Home. I read on Cammie's blog here: http://myblogbycammie.blogspot.com/
that she was organizing another card drive in honor of World Alzheimer's Day and her Grandmother's birthday. I thought this was a terrific cause, as my grandmother had Alzheimer's and I know from personal experience the devastating effects it can have on an entire family. People who care for these patients are blessed with an incredible amount of strength and compassion and I am happy to honor them. I created a card for her drive two years ago and I actually received a thank you note from a kind member of the Artman Home staff - isn't that sweet?
Here is the card I will be sending to the staff at the Artman Home, where her gradmother used to live. Thanks to Cammie's initiative, an AMAZING number of retailers and crafters have generously donated prizes to encourage people to make cards and recognize the hard work of people who work with those suffering from Alzheimer's. Please see her blog (above) for more details so these folks, or someone you know who cares for someone with Alzheimer's can be surprised with cards.
The layout is from last week's sketch challenge - the 300th one on SCS, such a milestone! The little lass is from MFT's 'Make Mine a Double' that had yet to see ink so I decided to give her a little love. The DPs are from one of DCWV's stacks, the Sweet Stack I think. I punched the little cone from kraft paper and the ice cream from the same pre-glittered pink paper for an accent. I think I am going to write my thank you on a sticky note and leave the card blank so the recipient can reuse it sometime. I know I will be making a lot of these little ladies as I just had a birthday and have lots of thank yous to write.
Thank you to Cammie for organizing this drive and thank you to everyone who takes the time to look at my card.
Thanks for looking at my card.

This is lovely, Meredith! I enjoyed reading your post to go with it. How wonderful of you to make a card for the Artman House staff. I'm trying to throw together a card with SC300 tonight to squeak in under tomorrow's deadline. I think you did a super job with it!!
