The goal in this CASE (no pun intended) was to create a card for someone you have recently formed an attachment with. It was important to link the card to the relationship in a very personal way. Here is the connection: I used to live in France (Dijon), and I miss the language. Fortunately, a French Conversation Instructor comes to our Visitor Center every Friday and has formed a very diverse French Conversation Class. This gives me an opportunity to speak French weekly. The teacher and I instantly bonded in that we both value travel for the cultural lessons and balance it teaches us.
I had this vellum quote book in my draw and I pulled this quote out - it seemed just right for this. Then I found the 'stack of books' in my wooden stamps and stamped it directly onto the card, and then placed the vellum quote over it. Wonderful! However, just like LateBlossom, I felt it needed a bit of embellishment and better balance. Finally, I actually ended up mounting a smaller white piece with the book stamp behind the vellum so that I could add brads without the backs showing on the inside of the card (I wish I had smaller brads). The fleur-de-lis is just to make the final connection with 'our' language and balance the image on the lower right.
What I learned from this CASE:
--A story can live on a single layer! (I really didn't have to mount the vellum)
--You can't always use a punch to make holes - sometimes a paper piercer is more accurate.
--Use a Stamp Positioner (Stamp-a-ma-jig) when position really counts.
--Keep your hands and work surface clean (cleaning as you go) when working with a LateBlossom card....uh I mean a CAS.
--Think about balance (To understand this one you have to read her blog entry for today - link below - there you'll also see the card I CASEd today.
