This card shows off my first play with Tim Holtz's Grunge Paper, I hope you like it as much as I do (I hope that doesn't sound too egotistical). Finally, I used a bamboo skewer to roll the wings over and give them shape (the beauty of Grunge paper is that it holds it's shape beautifully and you can do almost anything with it).
I cut out and embossed the Butterfly using the Cuttlebug Butterflies Combo set. I used the more butterfly like EF to emboss. Next, I used Q-tips to add Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal and Riding Hood Red inks to add a base of colour to the Butterfly. Then I used more Q-tips and the Pastels to add extra colour over the inks to add depth and intensity (great descriptive words, makes me sound really artistic doesn't it... LOL!). I also add some colour under the wings as I knew that they would show when the card was displayed (no-body needs to see the greyish colour of Grunge paper in this instance).
I ran a piece of Real Red CS through the Cuttlebug with the Brick Wall EF and trimmed it to 1/2" smaller than my base card. Then came the fun part, adding the distressing to make it look real. I used a cotton ball that I had pressed into the White ink and gently rubbed it into places that I thought looked good. Next, I used more cotton balls and the Pastels to add Real Red, Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip highlights and shadows to the brick work.
To make up the card I sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip and used the White inked cotton ball to add some distressed edges to it. I then stuck the embossed piece in the middle and glued the Butterfly (gluing down the middle of the Butterfly only) near the top left side.
